And on the 12th day God made Girls like Me (2022) is group of 11 large scale paintings that draw thematically from the horror genre. The works in this series explore the ways in which the genre mirrors real life: how women specifically interact with, are subjected to, and overcome violence. Rejecting the stereotypes and clichéd female archetypes that permeate the genre, the series aims to apply a more contemporary lens of the female figure in horror cinema and other media - Focusing instead from taking pleasure in victimizing women to shifting focus on women as survivors, protagonists, and perhaps villains.

Drawing reference from contemporary female-lead horror films, biblical narratives, poetry, personal experience, and nature itself, And on the 12th day God made Girls like Me allows for the female subject (and in turn the feminine viewer) to feel the catharsis of being unhinged and tapping into their dark sides. This show will run from April 2nd-15th at the Southwest Arts Center (915 New Hope Rd SW, Atlanta, GA 30331).
